Psalm 81:13-16 NLT
Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths! [14] How quickly I would then subdue their enemies! How soon my hands would be upon their foes!
[15 ]Those who hate the LORD would cringe before him; they would be doomed forever.
[16] But I would feed you with the finest wheat. I would satisfy you with wild honey from the rock."
From the Scripture above, we can see how painful it is for God to see His children under unnecessary trials, suffering, sorrows and oppression: He lamented that had His people listened to Him, obeyed and followed His counsel, He would have swiftly rescued them from whatever trouble they might fall into, and delivered them from their enemies. Instead, they chose the path of those who would not listen to Him: whose fate is doomed. Anyone who is not following the counsel of God is by default following or hastening after another god; and the Scripture says- there sorrow shall be multiplied.- Psalm 16:4a.But for those who fear, listen and obey God’s counsel, He would not only protect them but feed them also, with the finest of wheat and give them to drink wild honey from the rock .
If you want this year to be better and more prosperous than the last, seek God’s counsel: listen, trust and obey. Walk in the path that the Lord is leading you. Lean not on your own understanding, trust in the Lord.
The LORD says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. [9] Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control."Psalm 32:8-9 NLT
Prayer: Lord, let your hands be upon me, for you are the one that has brought me this far in the journey of my life.Quicken me and save me from straying away from you. Turn me again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine upon me, and deliver me from the spirit of pride, arrogance, self-conceit , haughtiness, shame and self pity. Grant me an understanding of your will for my life and the spirit of humility and obedience in all wisdom, so that l will no longer be ignorant and rebellious to you Lord in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
